SSDI Lawyers Serving Ohio

For those who live with disabilities and cannot earn a living due to their condition, providing financial support for themselves and their families can feel almost impossible.

At Manring & Farrell, we commit to helping disabled clients receive the benefits they need to provide for their families. We have handled more than 15,000 cases since our firm opened in 1991.

Clifford M. Farrell holds board certification in Social Security Disability Law from the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification, as recognized by the Supreme Court of Ohio. Most attorneys will not take appeals, but we handle 80 to 90 or more every year. Many clients come to us after Social Security denies their claims five to 10 times. Our willingness to pursue these difficult appeals shows our commitment to Ohio residents seeking disability benefits.

Contact us today to learn more about how we can use our vast experience to secure benefits for you and your family.

Experienced Attorneys In Columbus Handling Social Security Disability, SSI And VA Claims For You

The attorneys of Manring & Farrell primarily practice in the area of Social Security Disability in Ohio. As a firm devoted to practicing in this area, we have gained a great deal of experience, knowledge and insight into the laws, policies and procedures governing Social Security Disability benefits and Supplemental Security Income.

As a small firm with attorneys who know how to work together, our clients receive the full benefit of our more than 80 combined years of experience, not just the experience of one lawyer.

From our main office in the Columbus and Dublin metro area, as well as our staffed office in Lima, we serve clients within approximately 50 miles, including Springfield and Dayton. We also maintain an office in Lebanon that is not staffed but supports our ability to reach claimants across western Ohio. These locations allow us to meet clients where they are, giving families the convenience of local support while still receiving representation rooted in statewide experience.

Our attorneys also bring extensive trial and appellate experience. This background gives us the tools to manage cases at every stage, including appeals that require careful preparation and strong courtroom advocacy.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is a disability insurance program. To qualify for benefits, you must have serious medical problems or injuries that prevent you from working, and you must have paid enough taxes into Social Security to stay insured or earn enough credits to remain eligible. These taxes act as an insurance premium that protects you if a disability prevents you from working for at least 12 months in a row.

There are many issues that our firm handles that connect directly to SSD claims. These include:

  • The SSD process
  • SSD benefits
  • Rejected applications and denial of benefits for SSD
  • Children’s and widows’ benefits
  • Common disabling injuries and impairments
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits

The SSDI Process

The SSDI process begins with confirming whether your work history and medical condition meet Social Security’s requirements. You must provide medical records that document your diagnosis and limitations. If Social Security denies your initial claim, the next stage may involve filing an appeal and preparing for a hearing before a court. Each step has strict deadlines, and our attorneys guide you through them so you know what to expect and how to move forward.

Many clients feel overwhelmed by the paperwork, deadlines and medical evaluations. We help organize your records, meet filing timelines and prepare testimony so you can focus on your health.

We also explain each stage in plain language. By avoiding complicated terms, we make the process easier to understand and give you the confidence to stay engaged in your claim.

How Much Will I Owe For Fees And Costs?

Our fee never exceeds 25% of the past-due benefits you receive. In many cases, Social Security caps the fee, so you pay even less. We give every client a copy of our fee agreement for their records. If we need to make changes, we review them with you before we start representation.

You pay only for out-of-pocket expenses like medical records, reports, specialist examinations and in rare cases, court costs. In some claims, costs stay minimal or do not arise at all. You remain responsible for these expenses in addition to attorney fees.

At Manring & Farrell, if we learn that costs may arise in your claim, we discuss them with you before spending any money. You make every decision about spending, and we give you advice about whether an expense is necessary.
