SSDI Lawyers Serving Ohio

For individuals living with severe medical conditions, losing the ability to earn a living creates immense financial and emotional strain. When daily expenses build up and you cannot work, securing the disability benefits you paid into becomes critical.

At Manring & Farrell, we devote our practice to helping disabled Ohioans secure the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits they deserve. Since 1991, our attorneys have achieved results in more than 15,000 cases across Ohio.

Why Ohioans Choose Manring & Farrell

  • Board Certified Authority: Attorney Clifford M. Farrell is Board Certified in Social Security Disability Law by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification, as recognized by the Supreme Court of Ohio.

  • Appeals Specialists: While many law firms turn down difficult appeals, we take on 80 to 90 or more appeals every year. We frequently handle cases that have been denied 5 to 10 times previously.

  • Direct Attorney Representation: At our firm, experienced attorneys handle your case and represent you at hearings – not paralegals or case managers.

  • Plain-English Answers: We explain complex Social Security rules without complicated legal jargon, giving you clarity at every step.

What Is Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)?

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is a federal program that acts as a safety net for workers who become disabled. To qualify for SSDI benefits:

  1. You must have a medical condition or combination of impairments that prevents you from performing Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) for at least 12 consecutive months (or is expected to result in death).
  2. You must have earned sufficient work credits by paying Social Security (FICA) taxes during your employment history.

Comprehensive Disability Representation

There are many issues that our firm handles that connect directly to SSD claims. These include:

  • The SSD process
  • SSD benefits
  • Rejected applications and denial of benefits for SSD
  • Children’s and widows’ benefits
  • Common disabling injuries and impairments
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits

The SSDI Process

The SSDI process begins with confirming whether your work history and medical condition meet Social Security’s requirements. You must provide medical records that document your diagnosis and limitations. If Social Security denies your initial claim, the next stage may involve filing an appeal and preparing for a hearing before a court. Each step has strict deadlines, and our attorneys guide you through them so you know what to expect and how to move forward.

Many clients feel overwhelmed by the paperwork, deadlines and medical evaluations. We help organize your records, meet filing timelines and prepare testimony so you can focus on your health.

We also explain each stage in plain language. By avoiding complicated terms, we make the process easier to understand and give you the confidence to stay engaged in your claim.

How Much Will I Owe For Fees And Costs?

Our fee never exceeds 25% of the past-due benefits you receive. In many cases, Social Security caps the fee, so you pay even less. We give every client a copy of our fee agreement for their records. If we need to make changes, we review them with you before we start representation.

You pay only for out-of-pocket expenses like medical records, reports, specialist examinations and in rare cases, court costs. In some claims, costs stay minimal or do not arise at all. You remain responsible for these expenses in addition to attorney fees.

At Manring & Farrell, if we learn that costs may arise in your claim, we discuss them with you before spending any money. You make every decision about spending, and we give you advice about whether an expense is necessary.
